Spring Contracting Group proudly served as Construction Manager for the First Baptist Church of Glenarden’s Family Life Center, a 63,000 SF community complex situated on eight newly developed acres within the existing 163-acre Worship Center Campus. This $20M multi-use facility ranks among the largest of its kind in Prince George’s County and was completed over a 20-month construction timeline. Designed to foster recreation, wellness, and flexible programming, the FLC includes three full-size maple hardwood basketball courts, two additional half-courts, and a multipurpose auditorium with theatrical lighting and generous AV infrastructure.
Flex spaces include four team locker rooms and operable partition-equipped rooms for workshops, events, and youth programming. A double-height “Main Street” corridor enhances circulation, highlighted by acoustical V-clouds, CMU pilasters, pendant lighting, and extensive glazing to flood the space with natural light. The elevated indoor walking track wraps above the gymnasium and anchors the facility’s wellness offerings alongside a full fitness center.
Spring Contracting Group navigated site complexities ranging from poor soil conditions—mitigated by the strategic installation of over 550 geopiers—to deep utility trenching and bespoke steel erection strategies. Mechanical and electrical coordination was especially demanding, with miles of conduit placed precisely within slabs and walls. Steel truss installation, bearing pocket planning, and the custom fabrication of eight curved track corners further demonstrated our team’s commitment to craftsmanship.
With over 150 trade contractors solicited, Spring Contracting exceeded the 25% MBE goal, achieving 35% participation and full Merit Shop performance. We’re honored to have collaborated with FBCG on a facility that will serve generations to come.
